Summer Vacation and Sponsorship Scheme

Angel Trains offer 3-month summer placements for students undertaking Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering Degrees.

• Successful candidates will be based within the Technical Services Department or Project Team and will provide assistance to Fleet/Development Engineers
• We will endeavour to ensure that the placement offers a variety of work experience to the student including Client Visits, involvement in Project Work, Research, Workshadow, and liaison with internal and external customers & suppliers. Students will gain an insight and understanding of rolling stock leasing business, also understanding of the Rail Industry
• Students will benefit from increased technical knowledge, commercial skills and communication skills, IT skills, interdisciplinary understanding

Requirements

• 2nd/3rd year M Eng/E Eng student
• Proactive and can do approach
• Good communicator, team worker
• An interest in transportation systems and an awareness of emergent technologies, eg: traction systems and electronic control systems is an advantage.

Student Sponsorship Policy
Summer Vacation students may wish to apply for student sponsorships. Our policy is currently aimed at providing financial sponsorship and developmental opportunities to students who are undertaking Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Degrees. Sponsored students normally will be expected to undertake fixed term contract work in specific departments during vacation periods and/or gap year periods.

Angel Trains endeavours to provide the student with work experience, which will develop practical and commercial skills and knowledge, whilst ensuring that the work carried out also contributes to business and departmental needs.

The level of financial support may vary and is discretion of HR Manager with Engineering Director. Typically sponsorship will be valid for the period of 1 year (academic). Each individual case will be reviewed before the continuation of sponsorship can be authorised.

The sponsorship is conditional to the student maintaining a sufficient level of performance and contribution whilst working for the company.

An offer of permanent employment may be available to the student on the successful completion of the relevant academic studies, combined with assessment reports from Line Managers whom the individual has worked with during previous contracted periods.
